1. Why did you choose a career in infection prevention and control?
I am a person who searches for excellence in my work. I love to help others in solving problems. I like to prevent harm to others, such as patients and employees. I find pleasure in finding solutions when a specific problem occurs. I look for excellence in the scientific field.
2. What advice would you give someone who is interested in an infection prevention and control career?
To be CIC certified ASAP as its really make a different on the professional level.
3. What does being a CIC® mean to you?
This certificate made me feel more self-confident and to be up to the responsibility in educating others and contributing to helping in keeping safe working environment for the patients and employees
4. How has being a CIC® helped you navigate the current COVID-19 climate?
It helps a lot as a basic information’s related to pandemic, emergency preparedness and how to deal in such situations by isolation the infected person and doing contact tracing to assess the risk level and deal accordingly, it helps a lot to save people lives and decreasing the chance of spreading the infection also feeling the confident when the team feeling that you are the reference and trusting your information
5. What was the best studying method for you when preparing for the initial certification examination?
I have gone through the whole APIC textbook once, then I read it in batches and correlated with the practical which I was doing at my place. I have also joined study groups 4-6 months before my exams and it was very useful as I came to know the pattern of questions and the support from the team members who pass the exam previously also you tube channel for CIC where I can find also brief explanation in simple way for the content.
6. What advice would you give someone pursuing certification?
To study APIC Text book, commitment is the best way to achieve your goal and never give up.
7. How do you stay up-to-date on infection prevention and control practices?
Continue my education, reading, attending group discussion, following CDC –WHO sites and studying APIC and Open WHO Courses.
8. How was the CIC® helped you grow professionally and in your career?
CIC given confidence towards work environment, I can able study and pursue wide range of infection control chapters and infectious diseases
