It’s incredibly rewarding to work in a field where my efforts directly contribute to preventing infections and protecting patients and healthcare workers. I have truly found my calling in this profession. With each passing day, I learn more and more, which only deepens my passion for this vital work.

2. What advice would you give someone who is interested in an infection prevention and control career?

My advice is gain a solid foundation in the field, seek practical experience, network with professionals, stay updated, pursue certification, develop strong communication and analytical skills, and have a genuine passion for infection prevention and patient safety.

What began as an advice from a professional infection control practitioner evolved into a dream, and through dedication and perseverance, that dream became a reality.

4. What was the best studying method for you when preparing for the initial certification examination?

The most effective studying method for preparing for the initial certification examination was utilizing the APIC textbook and engaging in question-based training. This combination fuelled my passion for infection prevention and control, making the study process both enlightening and rewarding.

When pursuing certification, start early with a structured plan, use quality resources, focus on understanding concepts, practice regularly, join study groups, stay organized, seek guidance, and the most important advice is to balance study with well-being

6. How do you stay up-to-date on infection prevention and control practices?

I stay up to date on infection prevention and control practices by attending infection control conferences, continuously updating myself with the latest research and guidelines, and networking with professionals in the field.

The CIC® certification has significantly contributed to my professional growth and career development. It has allowed me to pursue a career I truly love.
