Work/APIC: Dr. Sobhan Qadir, is a Technical Advisor IPC, Program Lead Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) at Jhpiego, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University. Based in Islamabad, Pakistan, Dr. Qadir is an accomplished infection prevention and control expert, public health specialist, and leader in global health. He has more than seven years of experience in infection prevention and control, antimicrobial resistance, health system strengthening, and pandemic preparedness and response.

Dr. Sobhan transitioned into infection control and epidemiology during his tenure as Deputy Medical Superintendent at Mayo Hospital Lahore. Over the years, he has spearheaded several initiatives, including the development of HCAI surveillance systems, implementation of infection control programs, and training healthcare professionals in Pakistan and other regions. He is also current chair of Jhpiego’s Global Community of Practice of Infection Prevention & Control and Regional Technical Coordinator for GHSA. His work extends to supporting Asian & African countries through Jhpiego in combating antimicrobial resistance and implementing water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) strategies and Surveillance & prevention of Healthcare associated infections and developing & implementation of strategic initiatives of Infection Prevention & Control.

Key achievements include supporting the development of National Infection Prevention & Control program in Pakistan, Supporting updating the national guidelines of IPC in Pakistan and developing Training courses and manual for a number of African nations. He also served as a Technical Consultant for Infection Prevention & Control supporting the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) office in Pakistan, contributing to Pakistan's Joint External Evaluation (JEE), and supported in development of the National Action Plan for Health Security. Dr. Sobhan also holds Advanced Leadership certification in Infection Prevention & Control (AL-CIP) from CBIC and is a Governing Councillor of the American Public Health Association (APHA). He is also Certified Healthcare quality professional and holds two master degrees, one in Healthcare systems management and second in Public Health after his medical graduation.
Dr. Sobhan has mixture of experience including Healthcare system management, Infection Prevention & Control, Health care Quality and Public Health. His aim to strengthen the Global Health through lens of Infection Prevention & Control both at health facility as well as at community level.
